Afternoon Tea
The British tradition of afternoon tea is said to have started with Anna,
the 7th Duchess of Bedford in the early of 1840s.
In 19th century dinner was not served until 8.30 or 9.00 pm in the evening and the Duchess
who always was hungry by mid-afternoon decided to ask her staff to serve bread,
butter, cakes, biscuits and tea. Soon it became a fashionable pastime of the upper
classes to have afternoon tea.
This tradition carries on at The Leonard where we have tried to stay true to
Duchess of Bedford’s favourite pastime.

Traditional Afternoon Tea

The Leonard Afternoon Tea includes scones, a selection of cakes, clotted cream, preserves and freshly made finger sandwiches accompanied by Seymour’s selection of tea and coffee.
Royal Afternoon Tea
£ 38.00 per person
Served with a glass of Champagne, the Royal Afternoon Tea is presented on a three tier cake stand and offers an assortment of mini desserts, scones with clotted cream, preserves and freshly made finger sandwiches accompanied by Seymour's selection of tea and coffee.
Cream Tea
£ 10.00 per person
Fruit or plain scones with strawberry or raspberry jam, clotted cream and a pot of Seymour selection tea.
Choice of finger sandwiches
£ 7.50 per person
Served with Salad garnish and lightly salted Crisp with your choice of bread
